Collections agency fights cancer

Dec 20, 2011 Mike Garretson

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer recently received help from collections agency American Profit Recovery to fund its effort, insideARM reports. APR, which has offices in Massachusetts, Michigan and North Carolina, raised nearly $12,500 for the walk, created by the American Cancer Society to "educate and empower communities to join the fight" against the disease, according to its website. This is the fourth year APR has contributed to Making Strides, having raised an estimated combined total of $50,000 while signing up as many as 90 walkers, insideARM notes. The agency donated a percentage of its October sales to the cause, and has also raised awareness via promotions at trade shows and other venues. "We have made this effort a tradition here and part of our culture at American Profit Recovery and we take it very seriously," said Jeff DiMatteo, a partner at the collection agency. "We have fun raising the money for this important cause but we never lose sight of what the real goal is here; to raise money and awareness to combat this awful disease."
