American Profit Recovery, a debt collection agency with regional offices in Michigan, Massachusetts and North Carolina, is set to participate in its fourth year of breast cancer support. The firm will be raising money for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, a walk supported by the American Cancer Society to educate people about ways to reduce risk, according to its website. APR raised a total of $15,500 in 2010 and recruited more than 90 walkers to participate, many of whom were its own employees. In total, the firm has raised more than $25,000 thanks to walkers, employees and company donations. Furthermore, the company recently devoted its Employee Week to raise funds for Making Strides. Employees were able to participate in tasks such as on-site carnival games and paying a colleague to wear a clown outfit for a day. "Breast cancer is a serious topic and our efforts to raise as much money as we can are also serious", states Jeff DiMatteo, a partner at APR. "However, we understand that by having some fun while raising money can only increase what we raise ... and we can do our part to help fund early detection and various treatments."
