Rhett & Link's "I Love Local Commercials" Series Gives New Meaning to "In-Your-Face" Advertising With its New Cullman Liquidatio

KENNESAW, GA and CULLMAN, AL, Oct 20, 2009

MicroBilt Corporation, a leader in risk management information for small and medium-sized businesses, today announced that Cullman Liquidation Center, a company that restores and resells used mobile homes, has been selected for the "Rhett & Link I Love Local Commercials" series. The Cullman commercial was conceived, written and directed by the Internet comedy duo Rhett & Link, who have become an Internet sensation by creating parodies of local commercials, featuring actual small businesses. The new spot features Cullman owner, Robert Lee, who gives new meaning to two tried-and-true advertising genres: the straight-talking owner and "in-your-face" advertising. In the commercial, Lee tells viewers the homes are "used" and "some have stains: we cover them up." He then goes on to say a "bouncer in Birmingham hit me in the face with a crescent wrench five times… and my wife’s boyfriend broke my jaw with a fence post, so if you don’t buy a trailer from me... it won’t hurt my feelings." The MicroBilt-sponsored project was designed to celebrate small business and the "art" of local commercials. The new Cullman commercial will "break" today on, YouTube and other social media outlets. Rhett & Link commercials confirmed the power and potential of non-traditional video and social media: more than 2.3 million viewers have watched the initial series released last spring. One of the videos in that series, "The Red House Furniture" video, has also been featured on CNN and NPR, and in The New York Times and TMZ. Brian Bradley, EVP of Strategy and Marketing of MicroBilt, explained: "Cullman’s owner, Robert Lee, knows he isn’t selling mansions, and he knows that if he doesn’t check the credit of who he sells to, he’ll end up repossessing the trailers. The new Rhett & Link spot captures the essence of Lee’s business and his in-your-face view of the world: Think David Oreck meets Buford Pusser!" Robert Lee, owner of Cullman added, "This commercial tells it like it is. If you like it and want to buy a used mobile home, great. If you don't, no skin off my nose: the commercial was free." Lee added, "This commercial tells it like it is. If you like it and want to buy a used mobile home, great. If you don’t, no skin off my nose: the commercial was free." MicroBilt has thousands of small business customers across the country, including mobile home dealers, like Cullman. MicroBilt is sponsoring the "I Love Local Commercials" series and paying for the production of new commercials. Rhett & Link fans, MicroBilt’s users and any interested small businesses (or fans of a local business) can to go to the site –– –– to nominate small business candidates for the new season of commercials.
