Payments leader Vantiv strikes agreement with London online payments firm

Vantiv, a leading payments processing firm, has teamed up with Optimal Payments to broaden the reach of each company in the global marketplace.

Through their processing agreement, the London-based online payments provider will be able to offer its global merchants access to transactions by ACH cards, prepaid debit and credit cards in the United States market and Vantiv will extend its ecommerce services overseas.

The agreement follows soon after Vantiv's recent announcement that it purchased Litle & Company to increase its client base of online retailers and institutional customers. Vantiv, headquartered in  Cincinnati, Ohio, is the third largest merchant and the largest PIN debit acquirer in the United States, based on the number of transactions it processes.

"This agreement provides a great opportunity for us to extend our offering by providing our best of breed gateway technologies and related services to merchants in the U.S," stated Danny Chazonoff, CEO of Optimal Payments, which serves businesses and consumers in more than 180 countries.

Donald Boeding, president of Vantiv's merchant services, said the partnership adds new distribution channels for his company while expanding Optimal's American presence.
