Landlords get help of instant screening thanks to new technology

Dec 23, 2010 Matt Roesly

Background screening for new tenants is a pivotal part of the leasing process. Now, landlords will be able to conduct their identity authentication even quicker, thanks to a new service provided by Milwaukee-based American Rental Property Owners and Landlords Association. The association's new instant screening allows landlords to rapidly access consumer credit report histories and criminal and eviction database searches. Overall, the program will allow property owners to make quick, correct judgments without offering property to a risky tenant. In the end, it simply means better business. "We are truly saving rental property owners on the services they absolutely need to use for successful rental property ownership and management. I’m extremely excited that we can offer the very best tenant screening at a lower price than anyone else in the nation," said Rebecca McLean, executive director of ARPOLA. According to the latest U.S. Market Foreclosure Reprot from RealtyTrac, there were 262,339 foreclosures in November. However, that marks a 21 percent decrease from the previous month and a 14 percent year-over-year difference.
