California women accused of burglary, identity theft
A woman from Palm Desert, California, is being held without bail after she was arrested on burglary and identity theft charges, KSAZ-TV reports.
Shonte Robertson is thought to have been involved in a Laguna Beach burglary the occured two months ago. It's estimated that she stole up to $50,000 in property and compiled "tens of thousands" of dollars in fraudulent credit card charges, the news source notes. Police discovered Robertson hiding in her bathroom earlier this week, at which point she was transported to jail. A routine search following the arrest revealed that she had nine grams of methamphetamine, two grams of heroin and 17 grams of marijuana in her possession. In addition, it was found that Robertson held personal identification information of four different people - one from Laguna Beach, two from Arizona and one from Denver, Today's News-Herald reports. This included a blank check, Social Security card, casino cards and a health card. The victim of the Laguna Beach burglary attests that nearly $120,000 had been spent in her name by someone using improper identity authentication.
