HireRight, a background screening
solutions provider has completed its study of the common trends of the industry, Business Wire reports. The study took into consideration the background checks
and drug and alcohol tests of approximately 1,800 organizations across the globe. Professionals from departments such as human resources, talent acquisition and security were surveyed for the study. According to the study, 90 percent of the companies surveyed expect to maintain their workforce and have no plans for a layoff. Approximately half expect to increase their workforce. “Employers continue to share the benefits realized through employment background and drug screening, including improving the quality of their hires, mitigating risks, and maintaining compliance,” said Rob Pickell, HireRight senior vice president of customer solutions. The study suggests 51 percent of employers expect to increase their labor force – which is an 8 percent increase from last year. 90 percent of the companies surveyed do not expect any layoffs in the coming year. While these statistics can't be solely attributed to background screening, it may be an indication that companies are benefitting from the process.
